ORGANIC COTTON LAYETTE SETS

Organic cotton layette sets

Getting ready for a newborn comes with one big question. What do you need for the first weeks? A layette set answers it. Each set covers the essentials your baby will live in day and night: sleepers, bodysuits, a blanket, a hat, and socks, so you're not guessing your way through a hundred product pages or realizing at 2 am you're short on onesies.

It is your baby's very first wardrobe, the pieces they will live in, gathered in one place. We have pulled ours into ready-made sets you can shop by season and size up as your little one grows, so the guesswork is done and every piece is certified safe from the first day home.

What’s Actually in a Newborn Layette (and How Much You Really Need)

A layette is simply a coordinated collection of your newborn's first clothing and essentials, their whole starter wardrobe in one place.

Here is the honest part most checklists skip. You need fewer newborn-size pieces than you think. Babies do go through several outfit changes a day, but many grow out of, or straight past, newborn size in a blink. Lean into 0-3 months, keep just a few true newborn pieces for the very start, and you will waste far less. Our layette sets run from Newborn through 18-24 months, so you can size up without starting from scratch.

Safe Enough for Day One

What touches your baby's skin is handled too. Every piece is GOTS-certified organic cotton, with no formaldehyde, heavy metals, or harsh dyes, which matters when a newborn's skin is thinner and absorbs more than ours. If your baby turns out to have sensitive skin, you'll be glad it's this and not conventional cotton.

The construction is built around real newborn life, not a catalog photo:

  • 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, dyed with AZO-free, water-based dyes
  • Flat seams throughout, so there are no ridges pressing into skin during the hours a newborn spends lying down
  • Nickel-free, color-coded snaps that make three in the morning a little less bleary, and keep nickel away from sensitive skin
  • Necklines that open wide and pull away from the face, easier over big baby heads and kinder to a healing umbilical cord stump
  • Fold-over mittens on the smallest sizes, covering tiny fingers to prevent face scratches
  • Clothing that meets US safety rules through snug fit, not flame retardants, so there is no chemical finish on the fabric your baby sleeps in

A Layette That Grows Up, and Gets Passed Down

A set also costs less than buying the same pieces one by one. They hold their shape and softness through the countless washes newborn life demands. Then they pass down beautifully to the next baby. That makes a layette set more than a first outfit; it is the start of something a sibling or a friend's little one will wear next. It also makes it one of the most useful gifts you can give at a baby shower or homecoming.

A note from Anastasia: I started building these because what touches a newborn's skin matters more than anything else on the list. Every piece is one I'd put on my own baby.
